Koinonia Counseling Center (KCC) is the brain child of Sara Rice MA, LLPC and Marin Hann, MA, LPC. They have a strong desire to promote the love of God through their talents as professional counselors.
The Mission, Philosophy, and Vision of KCC
Our Philosophy, Our Foundation Koinonia Counseling Center, PLLC is here to love and serve Christ and our West Michigan community. Koinonia practices under the foundational belief that the world is broken and the world is full of chaos. When we see the fractures and the disorder, we see trauma. One may look at that belief and find it to be hopeless. It is indeed tragic. However, if something is broken, that means it was once whole. If there is chaos, that means there was once order and peace. At Koinonia Counseling Center, we find hope in the wreckage.
Our Mission Our philosophy is the motivation for our mission. Koinonia Counseling Center assists people in providing mental, physical, and spiritual support through the means of professional counseling and a wide variety of other ministries and services.
Our Vision Koinonia Counseling Center envisions a community that adopts a hopeful worldview. A worldview that recognizes the brokenness, seeking healing, health, and support with the openness and desire to share this with the lives they will touch. Health should be contagious.
This is a drawing from an aerial viewpoint of land (to the left) that has a large river going through it with tributaries (smaller rivers) coming off the large river. The large river also feeds into a depiction of the ocean (to the right).
Written on the land area is the text of "Our Philosophy, Our Foundation". On the river is the text of "Our Mission" statement. Finally, on the depiction of the ocean is the text of "Our Vision" which is the vision of our counseling center. These three texts can be found above.
Considering Therapy Checklist
So, you’re considering counseling or therapy or whatever folks call it nowadays, but you’re really not sure what you should expect, say or do. Like a lot of new things in our lives, this can cause a bunch of anxiety. Below is a checklist of things that you might want to consider before making the first phone call to a mental health professional.
We have been donated space at Calvary Christian Reformed Church. Below are a few photos of the rooms we use when we counsel our clients. We also have tele-health available and the option for outreach, where we utilize community resources such as libraries or other donated space.
